Seventh-Day Adventists of Western Siberia in the 1940-1960s

Abstract. The research objective includes analysing the everyday life and activity of Seventh-Day Adventist communities of Western Siberia in the middle of the XX century. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that relying on previously unknown archival sources, the author reveals poorly investigated aspects of the Adventists’ activity. Interaction between the believers and the local authorities is described. The problem of the Adventists’ interrelation with other Protestant communities is considered. The conducted research shows that Seventh-Day Adventism has a long tradition in Western Siberia; the Adventist community has asserted itself as a full-fledged participant of regional religious life.
