Theatricality in C. M. Weber’s Chamber Instrumental Compositions

Abstract. The article analyses peculiarities of C. M. Weber’s individual style. The paper focuses on studying the phenomenon of theatricality in the composer’s chamber instrumental works. Theatricality originated at the intersection of classical, romantic and realistic trends in music of Romanticism. It is proved that dramaturgic techniques of estrangement, "empty stage" effect, understanding of style and genre as semantic categories influence the composer’s musical language and constitute originality of C. M. Weber’s instrumental style.
