Abstract. The paper examines the normative-humanistic approach to the problem of globalization. Such an approach is based on philosophical and artistic conceptions of the XIX century. The author shows that from this viewpoint, globalization is a process of the global human community formation by synthesis of national high cultures. Dostoevsky’s conception of pan-humanity, Goethe’s conception of the world literature epoch, Roerich’s conception of the global culture epoch are considered. It is shown that in the Age of pluralism and conflict of values, an individual’s value choice should be guided by ethical principles of great people, who realized ideals of pan-humanity in their life and creative work.
