Abstract. The article considers ontological essence of silence in M. Heidegger’s conception of the language and the world. The paper reveals the content of the notion "speech", identifies the moment of its origin and discusses the possibility of speech beyond words. It is shown that true understanding is achieved through silence. The logic of silence (sigetics) in M. Heidegger’s philosophy is justified, the key concepts of a statement are systematized, truth of existence, that is silence, is revealed. The researchers emphasize the fact that understanding can be achieved not only through conversation but also through silence.
