The Russian Federation Museum Policy in the 1920s - at the Beginning of the 1930s (by the Example of Expositional-Educational Activity of the North Caucasus Regional Museums)

Abstract. The paper aims to identify goals and mechanisms of the Russian Federation museum policy by the example of expositional-educational activity of the North Caucasus regional museums in the 1920s - at the beginning of the 1930s. The authors examine the organizational basis and normative-legal regulation of the state museum policy; reveal the tendency for ideologization and centralization of regional museums administration at the turn of the 1920-1930s. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researchers introduce previously unpublished archival materials into scientific circulation, compare expositional-educational activity of the North Caucasus regional museums. The research findings are as follows: the authors prove that the state museum policy was aimed to educate a "new Soviet man", to achieve ideological integration of the society.
