"I Am Still Alive": From Everyday Life of Nazi Concentration Camps (by the Material of Dagestan Prisoners’ Memoirs)

Abstract. The paper aims to reveal certain unknown aspects of everyday life of Nazi concentration camps in 1942-1945. The study is conducted within the framework of the cultural-anthropological approach and is based on current historiographical data. The research methodology includes the narrative analysis method, comparative-historical, descriptive, biographical methods and the method of historical reconstruction. Chronological and geographical framework of the research is determined in accordance with the research objective: to present a view of Dagestan prisoners of Nazi concentration camps located throughout the war theatre (Germany, European countries, occupied territories of the Soviet Union). Originality of the study is conditioned by its interdisciplinary nature and also by the fact that the researchers introduce Nazi concentration camps prisoners’ memoirs and their "prison" works into scientific circulation. The following conclusions are justified: studies on history of Nazi concentration camps are relevant, the article is of interest for historians, sociologists, psychologists; the research findings can be used for scientific, educational and pedagogical purposes.
