Organization of the Soviet Collective-Farm Trade in the 1930s (by the Material of the Kuban Region)

Abstract. The research objectives are as follows: to show how the policy of developing the Soviet collective-farm trade influenced the economic and socio-cultural situation in the southern agrarian region (namely, Kuban); to reveal mistakes, abuses of the local authorities, to describe achievements and failures in the initial period of the collective farm development. Scientific originality of the study includes analysing dynamics of collective-farm trade under specific local mentality (the majority of the population are Cossacks). The conducted research allows concluding that collective-farm trade as a new form of trade was focused on satisfying not only personal but social needs. The following features of regional collective-farm trade are identified: mass character, administrative abuses of local authorities, growth of speculation, especially on bread.
