Siruz Mirzazade’s Creative Work in the Context of Decorativeness and National Symbolics

Abstract. The paper aims to describe multi-faceted creativity of the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, Professor Siruz Mirzazade, who created both monumental and easel paintings. For the first time the researcher analyses the painter’s creative work in the context of national symbolics, reveals his contribution to development of the modern Azerbaijani visual art, which constitutes scientific originality of the study. The conducted research allows identifying typical features of Siruz Mirzazade’s style - decorativeness, associativity, symbolism; for the first time the researcher proposes a periodization of the painter’s creative activity, identifies his contribution to modern art development in the context of artistic tradition continuity.
