Modern State of the Mordva Song Tradition (on the Basis of Musical-Ethnographic Expeditions Materials)

Abstract. The paper analyses materials of musical-ethnographic expeditions conducted by the Folk Music Department of the National Research Ogarev Mordovia State University in the Republic of Mordovia in 2016-2020. Scientific originality of the study is conditioned by the fact that the author reveals new aspects of the problem and introduces new practical materials of musical-ethnographic expeditions into scientific circulation. The conducted research allows concluding on prevalence of folklore secondary forms and secondary vocal ensembles that maintain local song traditions and singing styles. The expeditions discovered villages where countrymen preserve bourdon heterophonic singing, which determines specificity of the Mordva song tradition.
