Abstract. The paper aims to reveal peculiarities of women’s and children’s everyday life in the Buryat-Mongolian ASSR in the years of the Great Patriotic War. The article analyses problems of everyday life transformation under the wartime conditions, examines the process of women’s and children’s adaptation to new reality and considers the basic historical factors that led to the social role change. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher introduces previously unpublished documentary sources into scientific circulation, which allows revealing some unknown facts. The following conclusions are justified: in the war years, women and children had to work hard to satisfy the needs of the army and their own essential material needs.
