Virtual Space and "Place" Conception in Modern Philosophy

Abstract. The article examines the phenomenon of virtual space formed by modern informational and communicative environment. Technological virtual space establishes its own principles of spatial-temporal arrangement where the individual user occupies a certain "place". The paper provides a philosophical analysis of this conception in the context of modern philosophical discourse. Semiotic, anthropological, socio-cultural, historical and aesthetic meaning of the human’s virtual "place" is identified. The author shows how closed informational systems enrich and modify social environment. The findings can be used while studying means of mass communication and history of modern philosophy.
