ACTING ATAMAN A. D. STOLYPIN’S STRUGGLE AGAINST SPLIT AMONG THE URAL COSSACKS

Abstract. The article analyses the acting ataman A. D. Stolypin’s reforms undertaken against split in the Ural Cossack Host and their influence on the Cossack community’s everyday life. The author emphasizes nationwide importance of such measures because the Ural Cossacks guarded the state borders and their adherence to the Old Belief allowed considering them as the government’s opposition. Relying on published sources the author identifies the key trends of A. D. Stolypin’s anti-split policy among the Ural Cossacks. According to the author, his activity was based on public education methods, which promoted split weakening in the Ural Cossack Host.
