Abstract. The Tatars are one of the historically formed diasporas of Kazakhstan. Within the territory of modern Akmolinsk region, the Tatar population was concentrated mainly in big cities, such as Nur-Sultan (Akmolinsk), Atbasar, Kokshetau (Kokchetav). In comparison with other ethnic groups, the Tatar diaspora in this region was distinguished by prevalence of the urban population over the rural one and high percentage of merchants and bourgeois. Relying on archival materials and newspaper publications of that period the author analyses charitable activity of the Tatar community of Akmolinsk region in the pre-revolutionary period, examines the forms and trends of the Tatar charity.
