MYSTIC PRACTICE IN CHAN BUDDHISM AND SUFISM: COMMON AND PECULIAR FEATURES

Abstract. The article provides a comparative analysis of the basic Chan and Sufi mystic techniques, by which the adherents achieve mystic psychic states considered as the lucid moment, spiritual experience of identity with the Supreme Truth, God. The authors examine common and peculiar features of Chan and Sufi mystic psycho-training, analyse the influence of psycho-techniques on an individual’s spiritual state and conclude that these practices are identical from the psycho-physiological viewpoint. Mystic experience as itself is interpreted within the framework of the appropriate ideological doctrine.
