PHILOSOPHICAL ASPECT OF WAR DISCOURSE: METAPHORICAL AND LITERAL INTERPRETATIONS OF THE NOTION "WAR"

Abstract. The specificity of the topic tackles extremely complex problems: war, peace, lies, truth, right, law, ‘purpose justifies the means’, etc. These questions are equally in the fields of philosophy and linguistics. In the article, the author considers some aspects of individual philosophical doctrines and their interpretations of the notions "war" or "struggle". The system of views of each philosopher is formed in a specific historical context, but since the problem of war and peace does not lose its relevance throughout the history of the mankind, historical context is relegated to the background. Such state of affairs implies both the relevance of philosophical doctrines and the relevance of the problem. The sequence of the analysis will be chronological, which will, firstly, allow tracking the development of interpretations in diachrony and synchrony, and secondly, showing similarities and differences of interpretations at different stages of history more clearly.
