PALLIATIVE CARE IN THE CONTEXT OF PHILOSOPHICAL THANATOLOGY: ETHICAL ASPECT

Abstract. The article provides a philosophical analysis of palliative care institution, which allows the authors to describe ethical paradoxes of the death phenomenon in the modern society and to identify their influence on transformation of values and formation of moral culture. The problems of palliative care are analysed on the basis of different approaches to philosophy of death, which helps to reveal the current value and ethical meanings of the death phenomenon. Relevant ethical problems of modern palliative care are considered from the viewpoint of applied and professional ethics. The authors make conclusions about ethical and value peculiarities of modern palliative care, evaluate its development prospects from the viewpoint of ethics and philosophical thanatology.
