Abstract. The article analyses the early creative work of T. S. Sadykov, the first national Kyrgyz sculptor. The researcher’s attention is focused on the young artist’s works of the end of the 1950s - the beginning of the 1960s, when under the beneficial influence of the Russian artistic culture (it’s worth mentioning such outstanding artists as S. T. Konenkov, E. F. Belashova, A. T. Matveev) and the Kyrgyz folk art, his artistic career was formed. Analysing T. S. Sadykov’s genre and portrait sculptures, the researcher traces how, enlarging his creative experience, the artist endowed his works with deeper meaning, got more involved with the problems of the whole multi-national Soviet fine art.
