Abstract. The article provides a critical analysis of argumentation against the conception of sameness of historical events. Relying on classical ontological conceptions, the author shows that the basic provision for sameness of matter is its stability. The paper summarizes the arguments denying the invariance and stability of the past and shows that such an approach is based on misinterpretation: past as itself is mistakenly associated with subjective conceptions of it. The author justifies the thesis that procedural nature of historical reality does not contradict the invariance and sameness of past events.
