Abstract. The article justifies the thesis that material objects, being an element of historical reality, are a form of objective existence of historical past in the present. It is shown that actual past of a material object includes all the transformations it has undergone during its existence, and, consequently, its variability is a feature of its historicism. Among the elements of historical reality transferred into the present by means of material objects, the author identifies the following ones: physical features and characteristics of an object, inherent conceptions as well as relational statuses and qualities imparted by the society.
