Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the postmodernism phenomenon from the position of the "concrete" metaphysics of P. A. Florensky through the lenses of the language ontological conception, supplemented by the theory of simulacra by J. Baudrillard. The author introduces the notion of quasi-ontology in contrast to normative ontology, and attempts to justify the emergence of postmodernism against its background through the three stages of the semiosis of the language-sign relative to the language-symbol. In the course of the study, the author comes to the conclusion that postmodernism, being formed on the basis of quasi-ontology, cannot have an ontological basis, and, therefore, it is an illusion created by non-normative ontology, a priori coexisting along with Existence.
