SPAIN MIGRATION POLICY EVOLUTION IN THE PERIOD OF CRISIS

Abstract. The article traces and analyzes the evolution of the Kingdom of Spain’s migration policy, reveals the positive and negative experience of this Mediterranean country in resolving the migration issue over the past twenty years. Particular attention is paid to the problem of migrants’ integration in the Spanish society during the crisis period. The experience of Spain in the fight against illegal migration is analyzed. The authors come to the conclusion that Madrid, basing on common European values, is trying to find a balance between the rights of its citizens, the rights of refugees and immigrants and the national interests of the country.
