SECULAR RELIGIOSITY PROBLEM IN IEREMIYA IOFFE’S THEORETICAL ART CRITICISM

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of secular religiosity in the theoretical heritage of the Soviet art critic Ieremiya Ioffe (1888-1947). Particular attention is paid to his work "Synthetic Study of Art and Sound Cinema" (1937), where the issues of modern media philosophy are considered in the broad cultural and political context. The comparative analysis of the works by Ieremiya Ioffe and the Soviet philosopher Mikhail Lifshitz written in the 1930s makes it possible to clarify the research strategies of the two scientists. The author also touches on the problem of the correlation of Ieremiya Ioffe’s creative works with Walter Benjamin’s ideas.
