Technology for teaching foreign students to use Russian paroemias in Russian as a foreign language classes

Abstract. The paper considers the stages of working with paroemias in Russian as a foreign language (RFL) classes at university, from the selection of proverbs and sayings for study to the formation of stable receptive and productive skills to achieve a fluent use of paroemias in speech activity. The aim of the research is to offer an effective technology for teaching foreign university students to use Russian proverbs and sayings in communication. The novelty of the research is accounted for by a step-by-step technology for teaching foreigners to understand and use paroemias in speech presented by the author. As a result of the research, the criteria for selecting proverbs and sayings for foreign students’ paremiological minimum in the framework of RFL teaching were established, five stages of working with paroemias in RFL classes were identified, task options for each stage were proposed.
