Actualisation of English Language Teaching Materials for International Relations Students in the New Reality of 2022 (by the Example of the Institute of International Relations of the Kazan Federal University)

Abstract. The aim of the study is to substantiate the need to update educational materials on English teaching for international relations students using the example of the Institute of International Relations of the Kazan Federal University (IIR KFU) in 2022. The paper considers the particularities of English teaching based on an author’s textbook at the IIR KFU; sheds light on the specifics of working with international relations students in the new reality of 2022. The researchers describe in detail how the requirements of the Federal State Education Standard for the English Language are implemented and what additions are to be made to the teaching materials, using the example of the English textbook published by the IIR KFU educators. Scientific novelty of the work lies in determining new requirements for the content of the educational materials for the Bachelor’s degree programme in International Relations at the KFU in connection with changes in Russia’s international activities in 2022. Drawing on the experience of English teaching on the basis of texts related to the work of the European Union, the academic staff of the IIR KFU Department of Foreign Languages in the Field of International Relations are elaborating plans to structure English language teaching involving the materials on the work of international cooperation organisations as exemplified by BRICS, SCO, EAEU, in which Russia is a full member. As a result, a package of recommendations has been developed to update the practical base of texts for working with international relations students and publishing a new textbook.
