Web-Quest as Means to Raise Foreign Students’ Motivation for Studying Russian (by the Example of Web-Quest "Chief Editor’s Mysterious Text")

Abstract. The paper aims to evaluate efficiency of web-quest technology as a means to raise foreign students’ motivation for studying Russian (advanced-level training). The article reveals a methodological potential of web-quest technology when teaching Russian as a foreign language, describes the technology to create the web-quest "Chief Editor’s Mysterious Text" for foreign students at В2-С1 levels, examines the potential of this technology to raise foreign students’ motivation for studying the professionally-oriented Russian language. Scientific originality of the research involves developing efficient digital methodology for teaching Russian as a foreign language. The proposed methodology combines elements of computer linguo-didactics and professionally oriented teaching. The conducted research allows drawing the following conclusions: solving a web-quest, foreign students master the basic professional competences, learn to apply the acquired Russian-language skills. Web-quest technology helps to improve foreign students’ motivation for studying Russian, to enhance their interest in the discipline. Participating in web-quests, foreign students recognize the role of the Russian language in their professional activity.
