Historical Chronology at History Lessons and Its Place in Development of Students’ Cognitive Interest

Abstract. The article examines problems of teaching historical chronology at History lessons, analyses difficulties conditioned by diversity of chronological data. The role and place of historical chronology in development of students’ cognitive interest is considered. The paper justifies the thesis that the method of synchronization of historical dates and the comparative approach promote formation of systemic knowledge of historical chronology and contribute to developing cognitive interest in the subject. Interrelation of chronology with cognitive-historical and didactic elements is revealed.
