Abstract. The article considers the problem of spreading "false" interactions, such as exam simulation, in the Russian higher education. The author tackles the problem particularly relevant for a higher education establishment - adequate assessment of students’ educational achievements at an exam. Scientific originality of the study involves identifying objective and subjective factors making the exam simulation practice popular. The proposed hypothesis was empirically confirmed by the results of a sociological survey among teachers and students. The analysis allows concluding that students emphasize subjective factors whereas teachers put a special emphasis on objective factors. The acquired results encourage the discussion of ethical and professional problems of higher education.
