Abstract. The article considers the philosophical definition of art by P. A. Florensky. Separately, the philosophical-cultural and religious meaning of the artistic geometry of art space expressed in direct and reverse perspective is analyzed. The authors reveal the correlation of the artistic perspective of the illusionist orientation of art. The paper emphasizes the essentially symbolic understanding of art, as well as the ontological character of the icon as a sacred guide to real (divine) reality. The conclusion is drawn on the rootedness of art in culture, which is the expression of the metaphysics of spiritual being.
