THE GROOM’S WEDDING SUIT OF THE CHUVASH PEOPLE AND ITS FEATURES AT THE END OF THE XIX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. The article considers the features of the groom’s wedding suit of the Chuvash people of the Urals-Volga region at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century. The main elements of the groom’s wedding clothes are described in detail, their names and dialect variants are given. The conclusion is made that the suit worn by the groom for the wedding was a complex ensemble, which included not only garments, but also some obligatory attributes that performed utilitarian, decorative and magical functions. It is revealed that the groom’s wedding suit and its constituent elements had a dependence on local or dialect traditions.
