PECULIARITIES OF BUILDING FORTIFIED CHURCHES IN THE NORTH OF FRANCE IN THE XVI-XVII CENTURIES

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of building fortified churches of the XVI-XVII centuries located within the territory of two modern departments of northern France - Aisne and Ardennes. Over the XVI century by improving fortification the fortified churches of this region acquire universal fortification and compositional features, which allows historians without any doubt to refer them to the typology "eglises fortifiees". Due to their historical necessity regional "eglises fortifiees" up to the XVII century preserved the tendency for improving architectural and compositional schemes both in the aspect of fortification and in the aspect of iconography.
