Abstract. The article actualizes the problem of gender violence, which continues to be one of the most common ways of patriarchal impact on women in the modern world. The causes of this violence lie in the mental structures of humans - the peculiarities of structuring the surrounding reality through binary oppositions and their ethical marking. The result of this understanding of the world is xenophobia, in particular - sexism. Gender violence in the modern society must be overcome through the transformation of patriarchal gender stereotypes and traditions that affirm the inequality between the sexes.
