IDENTITY PROBLEM: PHILOSOPHICAL ASPECTS

Abstract. The article provides philosophical analysis of the personal identity issue. The ontological, gnosiological and axiological aspects of the problem are identified as the most important ones. The authors show that preserving ontological integrity of "Self" and overcoming identity crises require the individual’s permanent cognitive and evaluative activity directed both inside and outside - to the surrounding social world and other people. The key role belongs to the personality’s moral activity based on adoption of ethical norms and ideals in the process of socialization. The paper substantiates interrelation between all the components of personal identity.
