PROPAGANDA AS A TOOL OF INFLUENCE ON PUBLIC OPINION OF GREAT BRITAIN IN THE YEARS OF THE SECOND BOER WAR

Abstract. The article deals with the problem of historical development of the phenomenon of "information warfare". Its main characteristic was the use of propaganda through the mass media as a tool of influence on public opinion. The studied problems are covered through the lenses of the events of the Second Boer War, when the main British print media launched a large-scale propaganda campaign in struggle to form a definite attitude towards the causes, main events and results of this conflict.
