FORMATION OF violin EDUCATION IN CHINA IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. In the article the main stages of formation of violin education in China in the first half of the XX century are noted and the major events that accompanied this process are outlined. The role of Chinese violinists, who studied abroad and worked in foreign orchestras within the territory of China, as well as of musical educational institutions and the key importance of Shanghai Conservatory and its representatives Xiao Youmei and Chen Chengbi are revealed. Vigorous activity in China of Russian and European emigrants-violinists V. D. Trakhtenberg, A. Foa, A. Wittenberg, and others is considered.
