Abstract. The article examines the problem of identifying "Cambridge Platonists" - representatives of Renaissance Neo-Platonism philosophy in England of the XVII century. According to the author, the conception of "Platonists" is representative for the period of ideological transition from Christian pre-modernity to modernity. Modernistic features of Cambridge Platonism are revealed. On the other hand, the paper emphasizes polemic orientation of arguments of "Platonists" against modernity; essence of their opposition to new ideology is interpreted as defence of meditation.
