Abstract. The article examines historical and philosophical foundations of Russian Enlightenment. By the example of the Russian philosopher of Catherine’s epoch F. A. Emin the author shows how Enlightenment conceptions were formed and propagated in the Russian society of that time. The paper presents clearly in what way Emin’s philosophical views are included into general context of European philosophy. The researcher emphasizes that the ethical component is an attributive feature of Russian philosophical thought.
