Abstract. The article deals with socio-economic and political prerequisites of Antonov’s rebellion. It is concluded that by the middle of the 1920s the Russian society was in the system crisis condition, which manifested itself in destruction of the economic basis of the state and complete impoverishment of the population. The crisis was a consequence of failure of the economic policy of the state and led to increase in political tensions between the state structures and the population, first of all, the peasantry. Reaction of the peasantry was expressed in the armed protest movement.
