MYTHS AND MYSTERIES OF "ANTONOVSHCHINA": WHAT WAS PEASANT REBELLION OF 1920-1922 IN TAMBOV PROVINCE, AND TO WHOM IT CONSTITUTED A DANGER

Abstract. The article analyzes new approaches to studying the phenomenon of peasant rebellions of the Civil War period (1918-1922) in general and certain peculiarities of the peasant rebellion of 1920-1922 in Tambov province ("Antonovshchina") in particular. The author clarifies and imparts a new meaning to such "fashionable" in the modern historiography conceptions as "peasant revolution", "peasant war", "rebellion", "oppositional nature" and "spontaneity", "peasant front".
