Abstract. In the article the author focuses on history of development and description of the current state of cultural tourism in South Korea. The phenomenon of Hallyu ("Korean Wave"), which denotes influence of mass culture of South Korea on cultures of other countries, is described. It is shown that culture of the "Korean Wave" was an important factor that contributed to increasing attractiveness of Korea as a tourist destination.
