PROBLEM OF UNDERSTANDING TOLERANCE IN THE MODERN SCIENTIFIC DISCOURSE

Abstract. In the article the content specificity of the notion of tolerance for introducing methodological clarification in scientific and theoretical developments on this topic, as well as implementation of the tolerance conception in social practice are analyzed. Understanding of tolerance as toleration in the meaning of patience does not allow realizing this conception in theoretical and practical aspects to the full extent. The author suggests forming the principle of tolerance through development of critical thinking and compulsory cultural diversity teaching at educational institutions.
