THE BASHKIR NATIONAL IDEA OF THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. The article is devoted to philosophical understanding of the Bashkir national idea of the beginning of the XX century. Its ethnic function consisted in the fact that during the crisis it became ontological foundation of unity of the people, awareness of themselves as a whole and an indivisible subject for protection of their interests. Zeki Velidi Togan (1890-1970) laid foundations of the modern Bashkir statehood and the federal structure of Russia. Bashkir autonomy as a public ideal of the people became embodiment of the national idea in that period.
