Abstract. The article formulates a philosophical problem of communication. Essence of the philosophical statement of the communication problem is in clarifying ontological foundations of communication and, accordingly, determining methodology of the communication phenomenon research. Philosophical comprehension of the communication phenomenon will allow clarifying the meaning of different empirically given communicative processes, optimizing communications of different communicative sciences.
