PECULIARITIES OF FORMATION OF THE CONSUMER MINDSET IN RUSSIA AT THE TURN OF THE XX-XXI CENTURIES (BY THE MATERIAL OF FICTION AND ADVERTISING TEXTS)

Abstract. The article deals with formation of the consumer mindset in the modern Russian society. Money begins to act as a yardstick of all phenomena, objects and values, including the human personality. Modern culture is a culture of conspicuous consumption promoted by the media. However, the author believes that peculiarities of Russian mentality have significant influence on the process of formation of a new for our society kind of collective consciousness.
