PERSONALITY AT THE TURN OF EPOCHS (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE FILMS BY JEAN-LUC GODARD "BREATHLESS" (1960) AND E. IVANOV "NICOTINE" (1993))

Abstract. The article identifies typical features of a personality formed by the transitional epoch on the basis of comparison of the film by the French director Jean-Luc Godard "Breathless" and its remake, produced by our compatriot E. Ivanov, "Nicotine". The authors conclude that the transitional epoch forms the personality of a rebel, for whom internal freedom is above all, and such personality type is doomed to destruction. Nevertheless, rebels’ protest against the existing world order promotes solidarity of the people, who are seeking new future, fair and free from violence.
