PAINTING SECTION OF THE CITY COMMITTEE OF GRAPHIC ARTISTS AS AN EXAMPLE OF ARTISTIC COMMUNITY OF LATE SOVIET PERIOD (1976-1988)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the poorly investigated association of late Soviet painters - Painting Section of Moscow City Committee of Graphic Artists. Being an institution at the border of official and non-official culture, the Painting Section combined the functions and features of several types of artistic communities of the XX century: the trade union, the association on the basis of creative activity, the commercial organization. The Section became a new type of artistic community typical for the late Socialism period in the USSR, where within the trade union creative self-identification of painters of different trends occurred.
