"SYMPHONY OF A SOUND" BY GIACINTO SCELSI IN THE CONTEXT OF DEVELOPING MUSICAL ART OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying four pieces for orchestra by the Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi based on one note. The composition is analyzed through the lenses of avant-garde trends of the XX-century music, the sonoristic principles of thinking. The author emphasizes the idea of synthesis of the static and dynamic components extracted from one tone, pays special attention to the features of symphonic arrangement of a cycle originated at the crossroad of Eastern and Western cultural traditions.
