Abstract. The article analyzes a number of works of the academic branch of J. Lord’s creativity - Concerto for Group and Orchestra, suite "Windows", created together with E. Shoen suite "Sarabande". Consideration is given to stylistic diversity of the experimental content of the music by J. Lord, presence of non-European musical complexes in his works, the degree of organic realization of various cultural traditions; connection of his music with creativity of composers of the academic tradition is traced.
