BERYOZOV AND SURGUT AS ADMINISTRATIVE CENTERS OF THE NORTH OF TOBOLSK PROVINCE OF THE END OF THE XIX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY: MEDICAL AND SANITARY CONDITION

Abstract. The article describes a medical and sanitary condition of two northern towns of Tobolsk province - Beryozov and Surgut, - which were administrative centers of the provincial districts/uyezds of the same name in the second half of the XIX - at the beginning of the XX century. The author examines sanitary conditions of the streets, yards and dwellings, the citizens’ ration, their average life, diseases, the level of medical care. The paper concludes on relatively favourable sanitary conditions of Beryozov and Surgut in comparison with the southern towns of Tobolsk province and on the extremely low level of the citizens’ medical care.
