Abstract. The purpose of the article is to study directions and mechanisms of implementing the state policy on providing the railways of the Ural region with technicians in the conditions of modernization of railway transport on the basis of electrification. The paper studies evolution of railway specialties at technical schools as a result of modernization processes at transport, analyzes dynamics of development of the material-technical infrastructure of technical schools, the teaching staff and its professional level.
