HISTORY OF THE PROBLEM OF DETERMINING SUBJECTIVITY AND OBJECTIVITY IN THE FRAMEWORK OF PERFORMER’S INTERPRETATION OF MUSICAL WORKS

Abstract. The article considers contradiction between constancy of the composer’s text and freedom of the performer’s interpretation. The paper analyzes the theoretical concepts "performance", "interpretation", "objectivity", "subjectivity", "loyalty to the author’s text", evolution of their perception in different periods of musical art development. The aims of the work are studying the history of controversy concerning this contradiction and an attempt to present the author’s position in this manner.
